American Rubyspot Impression
American Rubyspots (Hataerina americana) are a North American damselfly that roosts communally. On a mid-July afternoon, there were only a few on this island in the Potomac river, but these two lined up nicely as they caught the late afternoon sun. The bokeh of the out of focus damsel has me thinking of an Impressionist painting.
